What is Predictive astrology?

Astrology doesn’t necessarily have to be predictive. Some astrologers even prefer to approach their practice of astrology primarily as a path of personal development. Indeed, just as the Western practice of Buddhism has also been adapted (the purists will say “deviated”) to the need for the spiritual fulfillment of individuals in search of meaning in their lives, neither Buddhism nor astrology have for original purpose to specifically help individuals to better understand their personal aspirations, which is actually a fairly recent phenomenon in human history.

Predictive astrology was first and foremost a Mundane astrology (from Latin Mundus “the World”), that is to say dedicated to the understanding and predictions of earthly phenomena and societies as a whole. Less than two centuries ago, the most popular schools of astrology started evolving towards a much more individual-oriented form, dedicated to the study of the psychology and the growth of one’s personality, whose different types of practices can be regrouped under the term of Natal astrology.

Nowadays, the predictive reading of a birth chart, whether done by a Western, Oriental or Indian astrologer, even if it is generally focused above all on the evolution perspectives of the life of the reader, doesn’t exclude to envisage a series of predictions concerning one or more probable events that could arise during his / her life. Some astrologers, much as one practices in Cartomancy and Tarotology, even put a specific question of the reader at the center of their practice. We can think, for example, of Horary astrology, for which the exact time at which the question is asked plays a key role in the practitioner’s analysis and prediction.
