What is Fixed Star astrology?

The ancient practice of fixed stars astrology refers to the specific influence that the brightest observable stars of the universe can have on our natal chart, itself more traditionally related to the Earth’s position at a specific moment with the other celestial objects of the solar system, the planets, the sun, the moon and their coordinates in the starry vault delimited by the 89 constellations which compose it. In comparison with the observation of the movement of the planets of the solar system, the stars, so far away from us, actually seem almost motionless, even if their movement and that of the other galaxies than ours, the Milky Way, are just as fast.

The great Greek astrologer Ptolemy was one of the first to theorize and list the “fixed” stars and assign them a role, even though their role has been more prominent in Asian astrology. Among the list of more than 140 fixed stars used by astrologers to date, 22 of them are considered the most influential, because of their size and brightness.

Among the fixed stars, whose name is also attached to the constellation where they are observable, some of the best known include: The Pleiades, Algol, Aldebaran, Beltegeuse, Rigel, Sirius, Castor, Pollux, Spica, Acrux, Arcturus, Regulus, Antares, Vega or Altair. Fixed stars are used in the calculations of coordinates of Sidereal astrology, which is the system used in Vedic astrology by Indian astrologers, unlike Tropical astrology, which is the traditional western system of mapping the celestial vault.
